Movie Night on the Back Porch

I LOVE my back porch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The other night the temperature was absolutely perfect for a cozy night on the back porch. Year before last we expanded and screened our covered deck and now we have a delightful outdoor living room. Right now it is actually covered in a thick coat of yellow pollen from the oak and hickory trees which shade our back yard. You know, those irritating little pollen tags that fall this time of year and disperse a fine layer of yellow sneeze dust all over EVERYTHING outdoors?

Well, the porch was CALLING to me and I had to give in. I took my allergy medicine and took a wet cloth out to wipe down anything we might actually touch, seats and cushions. The GREAT SPRING CLEAN  will have to wait a few more days because the pollen is still coming down like rain. I sweep a section of the sidewalk everyday and wait……..until there are no new pollen thingies, and then I know it’s time. Out comes the pressure washer, up go the electronics, and every inch of the place gets washed down with water. It’s a big job but SO worth the effort when you get to enjoy this retreat the rest of the year.

I hope and pray you have a special sanctuary to enjoy this especially green time of year. Some place where you can escape from the daily pressures of life and the stress that seems to greet us at every turn.

If you have any pictures you can share of your hideaway we’d love to see them. Just put a link in the comment section or you could try to copy and paste there (I’m not sure if that will work). Give it a go!

Thank you so much Audrey. It’s really best in the spring and fall when it’s not steamy hot or freezing cold. The fireplace puts out some heat but only if you’re sitting right beside it. I haven’t had any comments in quite a while so I was tickled to hear from you! Thanks, as always! You know how it is. lol

Beautiful Jeanette. We would call it a verandah rather than a porch but I think I would be lost without one. We have a yellow powder sneeze tree too. It’s called Wattyl.
